Hyper Cache 2.4.0 is out for you and needs you
I’m serious saying that this new version of Hyper Cache required me a lot of time and effort. And I changed a lot of things trying to make it simpler and more efficient.
That bug number of changes can leads to new bug. So, on WordPress plugin directory there is a version marked 2.3.3 you can use to revert on the old but stable version.
Here a list of changes and new features.
- the autoclean is working better (even if does not solves problem of blogs with thousands of cached pages)
- the admin panel is copletely translable with WordPress standard translation mode (get-text): I’m sorry the old translation are no more working
- there is a statistics section (experimental), one can enable, to see how the cache is working; pay attention that statistics make the cache working slower
- every option has a long description text to make them more clear
- now you can disable the cache for commenters, so the WordPress comment system works as usually excepted
Why I need you? There are two main things that are missing on Hyper Cache: a decent english and translation in other languages.
The priority is to have english text written in proper english (otherwise translations have to be retouched many times on each english texts corrections). I don’t want to pay this service, seen that Hyper Cache is free, so if you want to review the admin panel of Hyper Cache… I’m waiting for corrections.
If you start to collect statistics, in your wp-content (if writable) many file will appears. Their names will be “hyper-cache-something.txt”. Youcan safely delete them to reset the statistics or to clean up.
Hoping to not destroy you blog… go with Hyper Cache 2.4.0.

Thank you so much for your effort with this plug in. You saved my website several times over!
thanks im running 2.4.1 now
Hey,
Your plugin is great. There’s just one problem I ran into recently. I have 2 blogs on 8 core server that have around 1.8 million pageviews daily both together. Your plugin serves cached pages by using of php, which consumes substantial amount of CPU. Would it be possible to change this so cached pages are being accessed directly by some rewrite rules?
Thank you!
No, there is no way. You can evaluate wp-super-cache to do that. Are you sure your php and apache installation is optimized? Even with that great number of page view, 8 core server is very powerful! Are you using php as apache module or cgi? What are your hyper cache configuration parameters?
Hey,
It’s running on lighttpd + cgi. This part should be optimized fine. Hyper cache settings are here: http://i27.tinypic.com/28vdgrl.jpg
I used WP Super Cache before I used your plugin, but it creates so high iowait with each garbage collection it does, that whole site was inaccessible for couple minutes.
I’ll follow via email.
Hi Stefano!
I was just wondering if you know the answer to whether running the fork of DB Cache which now is DB Cache Reloaded (http://www.poradnik-webmastera.com/projekty/db_cache_reloaded/) together with Hyper Cache is beneficial.
Also, for some reason the cache status does not update inside the settings area of Hyper Cache. It also seems to be that inside the hyper cache folder no files are being saved?
What can I do to make sure that everything is running properly and I have set the correct parameters?
Thanks!!!
