This post is dedicated to collect comments about Newsletter 2.5+ version. Newsletter Pro 2.5+ has it’s own page here.
Warning: if you update manually, you must DEACTIVATE and then REACTIVATE the plugin. Upgrading form version 1.5.9 require reconfiguration on main panel and on user profile profile panel.
Sending process
Newsletter 2.5 uses an automated sending engine that works only if the WordPress cron system is working properly. On mail list page, there is a countdown which indicates how many seconds before the next sending engine run. If it is negative (always) your cron system is not working because disabled or because your site has no enough traffic.
On version 2.5.1 there will be a documentation update about it and how to ask the provider to setup a cron for you.
Hi,
I’ve been running Newsletter on our community neighbourhood watch website for some time now thank you. However in the last three weeks or so something happened. I don’t know if it was due to an upgrade or what, but now it shows as sending email and the engine shows positive numbers and the emails show sent but no one is getting them. This is first time this happens. Cron must be working as this has never happened before. Have you any help?
Values you see are correct. Ask your provider is there is dropped emails for some reasons, since the system seems able to send. Try to enable the log on main configuration to debug level and we can see on log file what’s is going on…
Is it possible for me to exclude a category from my newsletter?
You should manipulate the theme. Wait for version 3.0, it’s completely new and there are features like that.
Hi Stefano,
Is it possible to view a list of all subcribed emails / users somewhere in the WP backend? Maybe it’s just me, but I can’t find it anywhere.
When I go to “subscribers”, I can only see how many have subscribed and confirmed, not their data such as email and name. How can I view their information? Thank you.
Hey Aske,
click the search button and see the magic
Greetings
Rico
This plug in wasted an unbelievable amount of my time today. the documentation is written by someone who does not speak English as a main language so many times entire sentences make no sense throughout. There is not a single basic guide for installation to your word press site in all of his documentation. Seriously, and there are like 12 pages of documentation and not a single one has a step by step procedure for how to get this program running on your wordpress. So hours after installing using wordpress’ tools, I still do not have anything close to a working plug in for my site, I just wasted that time reading page after page of half-English documentation for features I’ve never seen because the plug in does not work.
You forgot to say that this plugin is free. May be you can find a developer and pay him to make a plugin like that and write documentation in a perfect English. It’s strange that, even if my English is a disaster, there are so many people using Newsletter and with success.
Anyway there are few plugins which add a newsletter to your blog, choose another plugin or user an external mail marketing service.
And… I’m ready to receive critiques of my work they are useful to improve it, but critiques must report what is not working.
I hope (about documentation) you were not referring to the documentation of Newsletter 3 which is not yet release as written on plugin page.
Stefano.
How do I view a list of all the emails/users that have subscribed to my newsletter? Thanks for a great plugin by the way.
Hi Stefano,
Thx for the plugin (A1). After wp latest update 3.4.2 I can’t re-activate the plugin Version 2.5.2.7 anymore – no error message it just stay on the page unactiv…
Can you help me with this?
Hi,
I just configured your plugin, and a came across one thing that keep me from testing atm:
I setup a subscription form, and entered a user/email adress, however nothing happens and no subscriber is setup in backend. Also I noticed, that in chrome you do not get a visual feedback on pressing the subscription button, it seems that nothing happens….
However, it seems to be the perfect plugin for my needs… would like to go pro aswell.
cheers
Hi
thanks a lot for your plugin !
Is it possible to Make Extra profile fields required?
Thank you!
When adding the tag to have a custom form, your plug in add different stuff that are needed by your plugin. That’s helpful but it forget to add a fieldset tag that prevent the site to be validated by w3′validator.
Where can we change that ?
Thanks
Hello,
Thanks a lot for the plugin.
I have two quick question :
- Where do I find the translated file for the FR language ?
- If I want to create a custom form for the subscription form, where do I write its HTML code ?
Thanks
Alex

Hello,
I am getting an error message [INVALID EMAIL]when I am trying to import subscribers using name@name.com,name,name with the separator of ,
Any Idea why this is happening.
May be it’s a bug, have you set the separator while importing?
Hi Stefano!
Thanks for your plugin!
I use latest version – work perfect.
Is any chance to get access(to this plugin) for other Users(Editor, Author…) not only for Admin?
Thank you!
Hi Roman,
try this: Main Configuration -> General parameters -> Enable access to editors?
Greetings

Hi Stefano,
thanks a lot for this great plugin. I have just one problem concerning duplicate subscriptions (i am using double opt-in).
Is there any way to customize a message, that the user (e-mail adress) is already subscribed?
thanks a lot!
// or is this a pro feature?
