A strange error:
The plugin works perfect on my testsite. But on the real site there is a problem. It doesn’t seem to send any mails to the subscriber, or store the subscriber in the database. However as admin I receive a mail saying there is a new subscriber.
I have the exact same versions, settings etc.
The only difference is that they are on two different web servers.
I realize this is not an error in the plugin…
But can you hint me on what might be the reason? What type of mail service is the plugin using? Can it be solved using the SMTP function? Can it be a rights issue?

After a bit of fumbling to learn how to set your program up (I’m new to Word Press), I’ve found it easy to use and very comprehensive. I’ve attempted to get MailPress and at least 3 other mailing list programs up and running with no success. I’d recommend Newsletter-Subscription-Optin-Module to anyone. Great work. Thanks!

I try to use the newsletter plugin but it doesn’t work. What am I doing wrong ?
my subscription page url is : http://…../?page_id=490
when I do a simulation, I’ve got the message : sending to OK and the batch info : status completed, email sent/total : 1/1, sending type : simulation/not scheduled.
When I do a test, I’ve got : sending test to subscribers sending : ok.
But I have nothing on my webmail.
Can anyone help me ? Thank you.

I installed newsletter and made tests. But no email comes to test mailboxes even if I’ve got the message sending to tests subscribers OK.

Beatrice did you happen to find out how to receive an email from the plugin. I got this to work on one wordpress site, but not both. Did you change your email or do the smtp?

But, sorry. I have a problem.
Everything works fine, but a un-subscription doesn’t work!
If I visit the site behind the unsub-link the bye-bye message is shown, but the current user is still in the subscribers list with the status confirmed. a message is not send to admin or the user like bye-bye or something like that.
where’s the problem?

Pro version have some kind of stats (there is a page that explains the feature). For really professional campains and stats probabily it’s better to use a service like aweber.

When I install yhe plugin I get the following error message on the top of all my pages:

Hi Stefano! Great plug in, but I only have one problem. I can send newsletters just fine, but when a message is sent to a bad e-mail address it doesn’t “bounce back” to the e-mail address that I have entered into configuration. I can confirm this by entering in a bad e-mail address and not receiving it the invalid address notification e-mail that mail servers send out, however, I can find it in my hosting account’s main e-mail address as if the return-to path isn’t configured properly. Any chance you could look into this and let me know what needs to be corrected?
pluggin works perfect BUT when somebody suscribe using the widget it redirects to a 404 error page.
how can I fix the problem?
otherwise people will think it doesn’t work and maybe try to suscribe again and again…

for example, the 404 error page appears, if you configure in the plugin by “subscription page URL” a wrong adress.
Example:
wrong: http://yourdomain.com
right: http://yourdomain.com/newsletter/ <== where the plugin is working

after recently moving our system to a new server the admin “new user registration” emails have not been working, we can see that new users are registering as the number is going up.. but we would like if possible to have this back and running..

i got a queation. i have the regular newsletter plugin for wordpress and i need to create differnt groups of receivers.
i have regular subscribers and premium, who pay for daily newsletter. therefore i need different groups to but the receipients in them and send auf different newsletters to different people.
is that possible?

I’m a bit confused with the List setup? Why is it limited to 9 lists, I would like to have the possibility to delete a list or have more than 9 lists, how can i do this?
What if i wanted to move, let’s say 100 email addresses from one list to another in one go, how can i do this?

UHL; manually editing your database to remove the users should remedy your problem until the feature is available.

Thanks for quick reply, but as I said – there’s too many of’em! Unless You’re thinking of some other way of “editing database” than me. What I’m thinking of is going to newsletter/subscribers menu where one can search and edit data. Is that what U meant?
if its a straight 10,000 user cleanout then sql edits maybe your best bet.
i might say export my database tables and clean them up in a text editor, then dump and import them back.
i can think of a few ways to make the subscribers area more feature full but unfortunately i’m no code wiz

Your newsletter_call() have a first argument. I looked at your plugin.php but saw that you don’t use the first argument in your function. I need to use the function as a template tag. What can I use as the first argument of the newsletter_call()?

I’ve been using this plugin for awhile now and it has been great. However, for some reason it no longer sends out emails. I’ve tried test and a general send, but no one is receiving them. Anyone have any ideas?

Mail services, sometimes, doesn’t work because there’s a lot of data to send. The host share its resources between several clients. if a lot of people are using the service and if it isn’t tunned to support that amount of requests, it will fail.
Ask about the mail service.
Also, try to remember the date where the plugin stopped working and ask the support if they were doing any maintenance in the server.
I didn’t check in the pluggin code, but ask about the mail() function. That function is the most popular way to send emails in php.

i have a question though: “It seems that Newsletter plugin folder is not writable. Make it writable to let Newsletter write logs and save date when errors occour.”
Now i did try all kinds of permission changes, but none worked, is there a list somewhere with the correct permissions for the newsletter plugin ? please?

Check if the group owner is the same as for the other folders.
If the folder owner is ‘nobody’, ask your support to change it.
The nobody group will no let you do anything with that folder.
If you have not tried: permissions 655 or 777 should work.
I solved the writing problem by deleting the .tmp file that was on the server. now it writes, but i have messed up the permissions completely , a list with correct permissions would be greatly appreciated!

Hey Stefano, I have an issue that I’m unsure how to resolve. I have saved two different custom forms into the “Forms” configuration page table. But, when I call the function “newsletter_form(1)” it doesn’t actually output anything. I went into the function and placed an echo to make sure it is being called and it is. Ideas or help?
Looking at the code, i couldnt figure out what is the first argument of the function you used. I actually didnt find the argument in the implementation of that function. Why did u decided to use a number?
I will look again to see if I can find what should be the first argument.

Hi Stefano, Glad to be a Premium Member. I downloaded Newsletter Pro and installed. I can’t find the “Locked content panel” for examples.
I’m trying to use your Newsletter subscription as the page that people are sent to after purchasing an e-book. I want to capture name & e-mail and then let them see the DownLoad link. I thought that the Newsletter Subscription, once completed would get the Welcome response with the unhide command so they can then see the Download link.
The page has the following code:
[newsletter]
[newsletter_lock]
…unlocked content…
[/newsletter_lock]
I put the command {unlock_url} in the Welcome message.
The problem is that the commands:
[newsletter_lock]
…unlocked content…
[/newsletter_lock]
show up under the subscription form as text.
Also, in my Admin Page under Newsletter Pro I can’t find anything or even a Locked Control Panel… where is this?

Ever since the wordpress 3.0 update I get validation errors.
Yes i’m using the latest version and yes I’ve tested by turning other plugins off to find the source of the problem.

I am writing a lengthy newsletter using version 1.5.9 and for an unknown reason I get random exclamation marks in the middle of my text when I send out a newsletter or a test newsletter. For example, around the 600th and 980th words there’ll be an exclamation mark. They are not in my original text or html code and if I rewrite my sentence the exclamation mark will move around slightly, say within 20 characters. Even cutting the text into notepad and back again doesn’t seem to fix anything.
I really need this sorted out. Any ideas please? Thank you.
