Take a moment to subscribe my newsletter:

I see from WordPress statistics page that my Newsletter plugin has many downloads per day. So I’m asking myself “what user think about thast plugin? Do they install and remove or them trying to use it?”

Would you share your positive or negative experience with Newsletter plugin? Are you using it or have you removed it and why?

Ok, let’s start with comments!

My excuses for my bad english but it's the only way I have to communicate with you. Would you suggest a correction? Leave a comment, thank you!

    Hi,

Where can I change the subscribe button text?

    Thanks a lot,

    Regards, Tibor

    • badly says:

Ezt én is szeretném tudni Tibor, nekem is ez a gond. Sajnos a plugin nem nagyon támogatja a CSS-t.

I have same problem, too. Please answer.

    • Martin says:

It’s been more than 6 months so why hasn’t this been answered yet? Come on Stefano, you can’t be that busy! Many of us would like to know the answer please.

  2. Maurizio says:

Ciao stefano, inanzitutto complimenti per il plugin fantastico.
Posso chiederti se si puo collegare la newsletter alla registrazione degli utenti con una semplice casella da segnare?

  3. David says:

Thanks for the plugin. Works great!

The only negative feedback I can give you is the simulate bug which appeared in one of your updates.

All in all: keep it up!

    DH

  4. Shawn says:

I love the plugin, it works perfectly for me and has lots of options. I think this has been requested before, but having multiple mailing lists would be good. Provide an option in the setup for which mailing list the name/email should be collected, or provide an option for the user to select which mailing lists they want to be on. Heck, I would even take an additional mailing list option where I could manually move people to a second or third one. As of now, I have to use a second plugin for doing just that type of stuff. Looking good!!! Keep up the good work!

  5. David says:

…one more thing: is it possible to have two newsletter installations resp. to manage two different newsletter lists?

    Thanks

    DH

  6. Hi Stefano!

I have downloaded newsletter plugin twice on my WordPress site and continue to get error in confirmation address: I have had several people test this too.

    ?na=c&ni=4&nt=e1df37005e77ed155d09228b7b1aaaa3

Instead of this – which I got when I just subscribed to your site:
    http://www.satollo.net/subscribe?na=c&ni=xxx&nt=xxxxxxxxxx

Please advise. I will appreciate your help getting this great plugin going!

    Ciao, Marilyn

    • Eric Stone says:

This is caused by a problem with the newsletter_replace_url function in plugin.php. The function is stripping out the website’s home url from in front of {subscription_confirm_url}, so if you have http://www.yoursite.com/{subscription_confirm_url} in your subscription email template and http://www.yoursite.com is defined in the wordpress admin as your home url, then http://www.yoursite.com/ gets stripped out. I got around this by taking out the www, so that the url in the template was no longer the same as the home url. But this is a bug that should be fixed.

  7. Terence says:

Hi, your newsletter is great! Is it possible to add in an extra birthday text field and base on their birthday, automatically send a newsletter to them?

    Thanks,
    Terence

  8. Nat says:

Hey Stefano, thanks for a great plug-in. I would like to know if I can automatically add my latest blog post to my newsletter to send it out, without too much effort? Is this possible? Thanks, Nat

  9. Lena says:

    Hi!

I was looking for a newsletter plugin that would be easy to integrate into the site i am working with. After testing yours i decided it hade the features i been looking for. I decided to localize it into Swedish language and its now up and running on the site.

    Thanks for great plugin!

  10. newbitech says:

    Hi,

I am using your newsletter plugin. I am trying to call ‘newsletter_form’ using the code on the forms screen. I get this error message.

    Call to undefined function newsletter_form()

What I have to do is hard code the form as you suggest by replacing newsletter_url with the link to the page that [newsletter] is on.

I have tried a few things like changing the call to newsletter_form() instead of newsletter_form(1).

By the way the form I am using in the form screen is the exact same form that I hard-coded except instead of the action url, I left in the variable {newsletter_url}.

I will probably end up having to embed the form differently anyways because I will be using some javascript+flash+xml to submit the form and track updates to the database.

    Here is the form http://www.winrandwin.com

    • Stefano says:

Have you the latest extras installed?

      • newbitech says:

        I have this.

You have Newsletter Extras version 1.0.2. Thank you!

I will double check for the latest version

        • newbitech says:

ok let me add the 1.0.3 version and report back

        • newbitech says:

I have added the updated files.

I will check the error logs, it looks like now the error is being captured because I do not see it output on the screen and yet there is no form.

The form does work in the post when I use the tag [ newsletter = "1"] but that was already working.

I notice in the FF status bar there is a message that says stopped.

I don’t know what other info to get, there is no php error in the log file.

  11. jacky says:

Hi, just trialing your plugin at the moment… is there a way to compile different lists of email addresses??

What I would like to do is send an email out to my pre-school contacts and an email out to my secondary school contacts, so would need two different email address lists.

    Thanks, Jacky

  12. daniellench says:

so far i love it! i’ve been fighting with mailpress for 8 months trying to figure out batch send. i downloaded your plugin andwas sending test batches in an hour, then i sent you $20. thanks alot, this helps me so much. a question though, can i see more than 100 emails in the manage section? i’m looking through the code now.
    best,
    dan

    • daniellench says:

never mind i found it. i really like your plugin because it is simple and it just works.

to change the email manage limit from 100, edit plugin.php on line 636 and 640 (in version 1.5.1) change ‘ limit 100′ to ‘ limit 1000′ or so. maybe add a pagination to this in the future so you can see all. then in manage.php on line 108 (in version 1.5.1) change ‘Max 100 results will be shown’ to reflect your new number.

      best,
      dan

  13. William says:

    Hi,

Great plugin ! Easy to use and setup !
Just one thing, how can i add subscribers manually ? (I just want to add emails of an emailing list without ask to subscribe). May be the import module ?

    thanks again

    William

  14. Parker says:

    Hey Satollo -

I’m trialling the newsletter plugin on a couple of different sites.

I think it would great if I could easily add the full text of one or more posts to the news letter before sending it.

    Thanks!

  15. Magnus says:

Hi, I’ve been using your plugin for a couple of weeks and am quite satisfied with it : it seems to be doing the job well, and I love the auto-composer feature. In short it’s exactly what I was looking for.

  16. Sabine says:

    Hi!

First I had trouble with your plugin. For some reason it did not work properly. Thus I tried out a loooooooot of other plugins, but neither worked the way I wanted. Finally I tried your plugin again … and now it works great!

I do not know where the error was, but anyway, now I am happy and have the exact newsletter plugin I wanted. I can create a customized newsletter, integrate posts individually, manage subscription data and have a double-opt-in functionality.

    Thanks a lot!
    Sabine

  17. Frederic Boije says:

Great plugin! Loving it. The thing I miss the most is that the newsletter messages don’t get saved in the database. If every newsletter sent would be saved, I could go back and see how the previous newsletters looked like. Or just copy an old one, and use as a start for a new newsletter.

    Thanks. Frederic

  18. Rohit says:

    Hi,

I am currently using your plugin in my latest wp site. Till now; it seems great! But want to change the “subscribe” text on the BUTTON to my custom text.

Can anyone please let me know how can i do it? Which file do i have to change for that in newsletter editor?

I will be grateful to get a response.

    Thanks.

  19. Simon says:

Hi and great plugin! Thanks for your work! I would donate if I made any money with it or my business….anyhow

For a lot of reasons with a blog of mine I am stuck with WP 2.6.3 but your plugin only works with 2.7 and up. Do you have a previous version that also works with 2.6.x versions of WP? Thanks a lot!
    Jurge

  20. Martin Eagle says:

I am writing a lengthy newsletter using version 1.5.1 and for an unknown reason I get random exclamation marks in the middle of my text when I send myself a test newsletter. For example, around the 600th and 980th words there’ll be an exclamation mark. They are not in my original text or html code and if I rewrite my sentence the exclamation mark will move around slightly, say within 20 characters. Even cutting the text into notepad and back again doesn’t seem to fix anything.

    Any ideas? Thanks.

PS: I’ve not updated to the latest version as I’ve read a couple of negative stories here on your site. I am, however, prepared to upgrade for testing purposes if you insist.

  21. Thank you very much,
this tool is just what I needed! :)

But there is one problem I haven’t been able to solve yet: in “subscription” I cannot change the content of the welcome message (it is shown after a user klicks on the confirmation link in the welcome message) – it just stays with the given value “a”, whatever I try…
Please help! Does anybody have any suggestions?

Thank you very much in advance and best regards,
    connie

  22. Jae says:

I like the plug in. But it doesn’t work. I entered in a name and email address that I have as a test and all I get is “entered in wrong email…go back” message. Why? How can this be? How do I fix it?

    Jae

  23. aricyale says:

    Hi Stefano,

Just wanted to say your plugin has worked great. My site isn’t in production yet but so far testing has gone well. I am about to buy the membership to I can get the extras and had a few questions. Will the extras allow me to:

    1) change the way the widget looks? Like taking the link to your website?
    2) Also, I completely agree with Frederic that having records of previously sent emails would be really really useful!
    3) That birthday option is also great for marketing

    Thanks again!

  24. Francis says:

    Hello

At the moment, I am testing your plugin.
It works… more or less : I am confronted to a strange problem.

If I register an adress via the newsletter PAGE, it works OK
If I register an address via the widget, it does not work.

    I have checked this :

both ways , the address registered in inserted all right in the list of subscribers. And both ways, the composer tells me the letter is sent.

    BUT BUT

Every address registered through the widget receives nothing at all when I do send the letter.

I also had to check the “Do not use double opt-in” . If not checked, email are not forwarded to the address, DESPITE BEING REGISTERED in the list of subscribers.

    Very strange indeed.

Do you have any idea of what is happening with your plugin ?

    I am on WordPress 2.9.2
Site still under construction. Not accessible.

I have a professional tech friend working the server.
What should he check first according to you ?

  25. Chris says:

    Hi,
I have my sender email configured to “Chris@ntaural-treatment-for-alopecia.com” but my host email actually appears on my test email instead. How do I change this?

    Thanks,
    Chris

  26. Gonna Killya says:

Stop upgrading this fucking plugin, get a life a woman!
you are mentally ill upgrading every24hrs, you are not a real professional, I hate your guts, remove the link from your plugin, hate it!

    • Stefano says:

Thank you for your interesting tips on how to get my life better (BTW probably you need to get a life seen you use your time to write stupid things here…). I’ll remove the plugin from wordpress plugin directory, so you don’t have anymore to upgrade it.

  27. elvis says:

Hi, how do you have more than one widget?
I looked at the widget code and it seems to say that you can have more than one widget but when i drag one to a sidebar, i do not get another one available.

    using wp 2.92

    thanks

    • Stefano says:

I saw the problem, I have to check why. I wrote the widget using the wordpress examples, but clearly is not the right way…

  28. My experience with your plugin is very good. No problems installing, good back end. I have tried a couple of related plugins before, but yours fulfills my needs best.

However, I have two things on my wishlist, which I ask you kindly to consider:

    1. Personal salutation: In German language, we have two different ways of greeting people in written (news)letters: A formal an informal way. The formal way is being used in business life and if you don’t know people for a longer period of time. In formal relationships, only the family name is being used. So in order to salute our online-customers formally correct, in German language we would have to use “Dear Mr abc”, where “abc” is the family name. Currently, your (great!) plugin only has the option to greet somebody with the full name given in the name field, and that would normally be the first *and* the family name. My question is: Could you find a way to customize salutation in a way, that plugin users gives the choice whether the full name or only the family name is being used in the salutation line?

    2. It would be very helpful if subscribers could select fields of their special interests in the subscription process. Subscribers would only receive newsletters relating to their special interests, which would make online marketing much more personalized and effective. I would love to see this feature implemented in your plugin, too!

I could imagine, these requests cause a lot of work. Maybe, we will see these features one day in your software?

    Greetings,

    Florian

  29. JOnas says:

Fantastic! Takes a little work to tweak it but it’s miles ahead of the other pluf-ins I’ve found so far. Anyone begging to differ!???

  30. Marco says:

    Ciao Stefano,

I have a problem with your very, very great script… Maybe I’m the only one with this problem.

There ARE unsubscription links in the newsletter mails.

But sometimes some of my users want to unsubscribe at my site and they are searching for a form to unsubscribe.

There ist no problem to subscribe at my page… but how to unsubscribe?!

    Greetings from germany
    Marco

  31. airbox says:

is there some php shortcode like that is able to be used to input this in places like the header.php file?

  32. airbox says:

    something similar to this:

  33. Jordi says:

Hi Stefano, from Catalunya. I downloaded your plugin yesterday and I was able to have it running in a while. First I was a little confused on how it worked. I was not sure how ‘automatic’ it was, what information it was sending…
The plugin activation gave me many SQL errors, but it finally worked…
I created the [newsletter] page thinking that qTranslate (multilanguage) would make it go wrong. but it worked great!
Then I began subscribing my email address. Links were not working but then I configured the ‘subscription URL’. I then composed my first newsletter and understood the idea, discovered the mail themes and loved it! I have created two custom themes in a minute with other filters. For example this ‘last 5 days’.

    //query_posts(‘showposts=’ . nt_option(‘posts’, 10) . ‘&post_status=publish’);
    function filter_where($where = ”) {
    $where .= ‘ AND post_status=\’publish\”;
//posts in the last 5 days
    $where .= ” AND post_date > ‘” . date(‘Y-m-d’, strtotime(‘-5 days’)) . “‘”;
    return $where;
    }
    add_filter(‘posts_where’, ‘filter_where’);
    query_posts($query_string);

I’m sure that when I use this plugin in a production site I will want to pay for the EXTRA plugin.

    My wishlist:
    - Subscriber groups in order to send different newsletter depending (in my case) on their language.
    - Change all page and widget texts

    A really great plugin!

  34. john mcgrath says:

I thought this plugin was great but then it just stopped working – after one person unsubscribed it never worked again.

    • John McGrath says:

Yes it’s me replying to myself just to put this right. Nothing to do with unsubscribing – cutting and pasting from Word 2007 into the Composer window using Firefox created lots of hidden code and that was the problem. Lesson learned (again!) Great plugin!

  35. Paul says:

Thanks for the very easy to use plugin! I’m hoping my business will grow enough to justify getting the extras, those are some great looking features!

I’m just getting my site set up and I can’t figure out where to change the column settings for the newsletter widget. The text begins to the left of the widget box window instead of aligning with the widget title or submission fields.

  36. Kris says:

My newsletters go to spam, what could I do to avoid that? Thanks for the help ;) awesome plugin

  37. Anja says:

I just would like to say thank you and that this is a great plugin. It HAS taken me some time to get it to work the way I want it to. But I realised that the answer was under my nose and I was looking too hard.

Thank you for a job well done !
