Starting with Afresco

Alfresco is an ECM, Enterprise Content Management. It’s really far away from blogs and WordPress plugins, but I’m starting (today) to explore it for a project.

Alfresco is big, 350 megabytes and more and contains the document management part and a new web module to create a collaboration environement with forums, blogs and wiki’s for enterprises.

Alfresco comes with two version: the open source and free Labs version and the costly Enterprive version. That means: do not expect to find great documentation on Alfresco site. It’s probabily better to go to amazon and buy a couple of books like Alfresco Developer Guide and Alfresco Enterprise Content Management Implementation: How to Install, use, and customize this powerful, free, Open Source Java-based Enterprise CMS.

I’ve just asked my company to buy them… hoping to have them before 2015…
